The Middle School counseling team hosted their first Counseling Coffee morning on September 9. The purpose was twofold: for parents to meet the new counselors and collaboratively create a set of themes/topics for future Counseling Coffee mornings. The MS counselors are appreciative of the parents who attended and contributed to a wonderful time of getting to know each other. Key takeaways from the session included:
Middle schoolers are going through several developmental changes, and each student’s transition is a unique experience.
Parenting a middle schooler is a journey that is not always linear; there will be turbulence.
Parents and the school create a bridge to facilitate the successful transitioning of each middle schooler and for this to happen, communication and collaboration is essential.
Parents may schedule appointments with their child’s counselor by contacting the counselor via the MS office or email as follows:
Mr. Kevin Kalua (N-Z) – kevin.kalua@concordiashanghai.org
Mrs. Pushpa Dasari (A – 7) – Pushpa.dasari@concordiashanghai.org
The counselors look forward to meeting parents again on October 7 for an exciting session, led by Bohan Zhang on Raising a Gamer: Seeing the Child Behind the Screen & Establishing Healthy Habits
