PS/PK Playground is Open

After much anticipation, the wait is finally over; the PS/PK Playground is open! A heartfelt thank you to all of our PS/PK families for your incredible patience and grace as we worked to bring this vision to life. Watching parents and children explore the playground together for the first time was truly a moment to treasure. This space was thoughtfully and intentionally designed with the whole child in mind, from the garden area inviting little hands to dig and discover to spaces dedicated to music and art and rich sensory experiences woven throughout. Our little ones can now balance, jump, swing, dig, and even bike, nurturing their gross motor development in the most joyful of ways. We are so grateful for this community and so excited for the countless memories that will be made here.

Preschool Light and Dark Inquiry

To launch our Light and Dark Inquiry, our Preschool students explored the light dome, where they had opportunities to investigate light, darkness, and shadows through hands-on discovery. For some children, this was an exciting adventure filled with curiosity and wonder. For others, it was an opportunity to face their fears, build confidence, and discover that they could overcome something unfamiliar.

As we explored, the children began noticing how sometimes they appeared big and other times small. We also enjoyed reading stories in the dark, searching for shiny numbers using our flashlights, and singing Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star while creating our own flashlight dance! Through these playful experiences, the children explored early scientific and mathematical concepts, strengthened their observation skills, and developed confidence in unfamiliar environments. Their discoveries sparked curiosity, encouraged questions, and laid the foundation for further investigations into the fascinating world of light and dark.

Parent Tip of the Week

Learning Takes Energy, Too!

As we come together for Parent-Teacher Conferences this week, we have a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our children's growth, recognize their strengths, and reflect on how we can continue supporting their learning.

This week, we are exploring the cognitive domain of Self-Reg. Learning something new, concentrating, remembering instructions, solving problems, and moving between activities all require mental energy. For young children, a full day at school can be quite demanding, even when they are happy, engaged, and enjoying themselves!

As you reflect on your child's progress during conferences, I invite you to think not only about what else they need to learn, but also about what helps them learn best. Sometimes, a little less pressure, more time to play, or a chance to rest can make a meaningful difference.

Try this this week: After your conference, take a moment to celebrate something your child has learned or accomplished. Rather than immediately focusing on the next goal, let them know what you appreciate about their effort and growth.

Remember: Supporting learning isn't always about doing more. Sometimes, it's about creating the conditions that allow children to thrive.
